VoltH2 Vlissingen Receives SDE++ Grant
The Netherlands Enterprise Agency (RVO) has awarded an SDE++ grant to VoltH2 for the production of green hydrogen at Vlissingen.
In East Vlissingen, VoltH2 is developing a hydrogen plant with a capacity of 25 MW. This plant will produce 2,000 metric tons of green hydrogen annually through electrolysis. Thanks to its strategic location between the North Sea wind farms on one side and the industrial customers within North Sea Port on the other, this project allows us to contribute to making the port area and its hinterland more sustainable.
With an annual production and consumption of approximately 600,000 metric tons of hydrogen, North Sea Port is the largest hydrogen cluster in the Benelux. The vast majority of this is currently still gray hydrogen produced from natural gas. The production of every kilogram of gray hydrogen results in the emission of approximately nine kilograms of CO2. The SDE++ grant we received is also aimed at reducing these CO2 emissions. The green hydrogen produced by VoltH2 will replace a portion of the existing fossil-based hydrogen.
Thanks to the SDE++ grant, VoltH2 is taking an important step in the development of this project. Our focus is now shifting to preparing for the final investment decision.
With this project, VoltH2 is making a measurable contribution to a cleaner industry and a sustainable future.
