Capacity at startup

25 MW

Scalable to

125 MW

In operation in

2026

We are setting up our very first hydrogen plant in Terneuzen, on a three-hectare site on the Axelse Vlakte. Its location on the Belgian-Dutch border offers opportunities for cross-border cooperation.

As in Vlissingen, the production capacity in Terneuzen will be 25 MW at the start. The planning phase has been completed, in March 2022 we received the necessary permits and in February 2023 an SDE++ subsidy. In a first phase, we will produce about 2,000 tons of green hydrogen per year. But the design of the hydrogen plant allows for a future expansion up to 125 MW.

The site, located within North Sea Port, is very well connected by road, rail, the North Sea and inland waterways. This will allow us to distribute the hydrogen smoothly to potential customers. Industrial companies in the port are already showing interest in our green hydrogen to reduce their CO₂ emissions. Moreover, North Sea Port wants to develop the Axelse Vlakte into a cluster for the production of advanced biofuels in the coming years. This offers opportunities for interesting, local partnerships, not only for our green hydrogen, but also for the co-products heat and oxygen.
