VoltH2 welcomes Michael Wuennemann as Country Manager for Germany
Michael Wuennemann started at VoltH2 at the beginning of December. Meet our new Country Manager for VoltH2 Germany.
Why did you apply for this position?
I believe very much in the potential of green hydrogen. It is indispensable to reduce CO2 emissions from our energy-intensive industry and mobility. By working here, I can contribute to the energy transition. But it goes even further: I will be working from Essen, in the middle of the industrialized Ruhr region where I have my roots. This region used to have a lot of coal mines and in my hometown you can still find a power plant running on coal. In this position, I can simultaneously help build the hydrogen economy and a greener and more sustainable future in my own region.
Why did you choose VoltH2?
Before this, I worked in the energy market for many years. I was increasingly involved in sustainable technologies, including green hydrogen. From now on, I want to focus exclusively on hydrogen and the development of new projects. This fits perfectly with what VoltH2 does. Moreover, there are few companies developing green hydrogen projects like VoltH2. For the very first plants, we are aiming for a capacity of 10 or 25 MW, which is already significant today. Targets are being set and the team is meeting them. This approach is both ambitious and realistic, which appeals to me. And after years in large companies, I wanted to work in a smaller company, where you can make a difference faster. With the three German locations, I will have more than enough to do. I will manage the further development of the production plants in Essen, Gelsenkirchen and Wilhelmshaven. In the process, the German team should also be expanded. And there will of course also be room to develop the business even further.
